The Cyfle Building Skills Shared Apprenticeship Scheme commenced on Monday 16th September 2013 with 3 Regions, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion/Pembrokeshire and Neath Port-Talbot/Swansea.
Getting involved in the Shared Apprenticeship Scheme allows employers to dip in and out of apprentice training. The Scheme allows you to take on an apprentice, for as short a duration as three months, with no commitment to the apprentice at the end.
Once the apprentice has finished working with an employer they are found another placement, and upon framework completion, they will be assisted in sourcing permanent employment within their chosen trade.
The Scheme allows employers to enjoy all the benefits of an apprentice, without any long-term risk or long-term cost to their business.
A Shared Apprentice who completes the full training programme will pick up an NVQ Level 3 in their chosen trade. Currently, around 90% of apprentices who complete the three years have secured full time employment in their chosen trade.
Carmarthenshire for 2017 September intake currently employs :
Year 1 (NVQ 2) = Bricklaying x 5, Carpentry x 11, Electrical x 8, Plastering x 2, Plumbing x 1, Painting and Decorating x 2
Year 2 (NVQ 3) = Bricklaying x 1, Carpentry x 4, Electrical x 4, Painting and Decorating x 2, Plumbing x 1
The Scheme to date employs 140 Shared Apprentices from the 3 Regions. It is anticipated that Cyfle Building Skills will employ a further 75 new Shared Apprentices in September 2018 to become the largest Construction Apprenticeship employer in the United Kingdom.
